Responsible for directing the School of Culinary Arts, Tourism and Hospitality, including strategic planning, environmental scanning, research and analysis, instructional program development and evaluation, development and implementation of distance learning instructional delivery, student outcome assessment, development and implementation of articulation agreements, marketing and public relations, leadership hiring and management of program faculty, fiscal and budgetary management, acquisition of grants and scholarship monies, collaboration and responsiveness to advisory board, maintenance of relations with area employers, industry associations, secondary school colleagues, and sources of potential students.  Serve as active member of the Instructional Leadership Team, Administrative Faculty Senate, Reynolds Leadership Council, Professional Development and Renewal Committee, and Web Redesign Task Force.

 

Major accomplishments include conceptualization and creation of the J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Center for Hospitality Development, establishment of educational and apprenticeship-training partnerships with the ACF/Virginia Chefs Association, leadership of consortium hospitality careers tech prep initiatives, acquisition of Title III grants, and the development and deployment of web-based hospitality management curriculum.

 

Currently pioneering the regional deployment of the Welcome Host Certification Program to develop and maintain a broad network of knowledgeable advocates who will provide visitors to the Metro Richmond area with friendly answers that enhance their visits and promote commercial growth of area merchants.
